报告人简介:
Dr Xu Guodong jointed Harbin Engineering University after he accomplished his PhD course in University College London. His research interests include the fluid structure impact and water entry problem, the hydrodynamics of unsteady foil and biomimetics. The researches can find application to the ditching of airplane, water entry of projectiles, green water and bow impact of ships, propulsion of flapping foils, turbines and wave glider. A number of papers have been published in Proceeding of Royal Society A, Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements, Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, Applied Ocean Research, Coastal Engineering and Ocean Engineering.
报告简介:
The propulsion and energy harvesting of tandem flapping foils have been investigated through velocity potential flow theory. The trajectories of the foils are prescribed with harmonic heave and pitch motions. The rear foil performs oscillatory motion in the wake of the fore foil. The vortex interaction of the upstream foil and the downstream foil affects the performance of the downstream foil significantly. The parameter global phase shift, which is dominated by the longitudinal distance and phase shift of the heave motion, is introduced to describe the relative position of tandem foils. For given motion frequency and heave amplitude, the variations of the performance of propulsion and energy harvesting against global phase shift are analysed. There exists the optimal position and phase shift in terms of global phase shift.
