报告人简介:Dr. Zheng Peng is an Assistant Professor of the Computer Science Department at City College of New York. He has been conducting active research on the modeling, optimization, implementation and Experimental evaluation of wireless ad-hoc sensor networks and networked systems, especially in the unique underwater environment since 2006.

He has authored or co-authored over 15 journal papers and 40 peer-reviewed conference papers in his area. He had hands-on experience through practical underwater wireless sensor network designs and conducted field experiments in various underwater environments, accumulatively spent over 30 days at sea. He has served as a National Science Foundation grant review panelist, a guest editor of an international journal’s special issue, reviewers of academic journals domestic and international, as well as organizing roles in a number of international academic conferences.

报告内容简介:This talk will first provide an overview of Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs), including the motivation, applications, basic architecture, research challenges and current progresses. Then the speaker will discuss a phenomenon discovered from real experiments. A theoretically model is proposed to describe its impacts on the design of Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols. Simulation results show that the proposed model can effectively characterize how the new phenomenon affects collision behaviors in underwater wireless sensor networks.
